Nah, I mean the S500....one more thing you'll never see me in is a brand new car....I like other people to take the depreciation bill...

RE: Is the 9-5 SportCombi for me?

Great point Espresso - I did forget that BMW includes EVERYTHING for the first 4 years, not just scheduled maintenance like the Saab. I am sort of with Roto on this one - I have never been a big fan of BMW - but that's just a stupid bias of mine. I live in Northern Virginia where every yuppie has to have a BMW. They're all over the frikkin place around here! But, a friend of mine just got a used 2006 325 with a manual tranny and it is just sweet so I should just bury my bias and at least consider it.

Funny you should mention not buying a new car Roto. I always said I would never buy new for the same reason. 10 years ago (1997) I bought my 1994 Honda Prelude for $14K. Excellent car and quite a bargain compared to anything else at the time. But, now I'm willing to buy new since I am pretty picky about getting my stick-shift and a color I like. With family cars (and especially wagons), finding a stick shift is really rare.

It's too late in the year to order a 2007, so I may order a 2008 in a few months. I heard it will be an exact carryover from 2007. Just yesterday I noticed they had the '08 Saabs listed on Edmunds and Yahoo Autos. Can you believe they upped the MSRP $2K!!!! It went from $35,695 to $37,700! I hope that's a mistake on the website. Doesn't make much sense to up the cost that much when it's just a carryover. So as not to bastardize this thread, I will start this topic as another thread in the appropriate area. This really pisses me off though. If those numbers are accurate, the 9-5 SportCombi may have just crossed my price threshold.

Thanks for the good info and lively discussion.

My wife can have all the new cars whe wants,I'm just a nut who can't keep his tools and hoosiers out of his car... (Yes, they're in the back seat as we speak cause the above mentioned wife got tired of them sitting under the kitchen table)

May be when I get much older I'll buy a new car...or may be I'll just buy a really old car...probably the second
