Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert is the highest level of certification available in the field of networking. As such it is not easily achievable. Cisco identifies a CCIE as a person who demonstrates a broad theoretical knowledge of wireless networking and a solid understanding of wireless LAN technologies from Cisco, the market leader in WLAN technology.

Cisco has been providing this certification for the past fifteen years. The certification program of Cisco is an endeavor on the part of the company to identify networking professionals of the highest order. There has been many candidates aspiring to be a CCIE and millions undergo CCIE Training every year.

Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert (CCIE) is a course meant for IT consulting firms as well as Internet service Providers. CCIE courses include many modules under it. The CCIE Routing and Switching module covers Internet Protocol, non-IP desktop protocols such as IPX and bridge related technologies. CCIE SNA/IP Integration covers Cisco Mainframe Channel Connectivity and System Network Architecture, etc.
