2008 9-3 check engine light and rough engine idle
I've got 110,00 km mostly highway. Check engine light went on for first time, had it examined and ignition coil of cylinger no. 1 replaced. Also, dirty fuel injectors cleaned. After a couple days, check engine light on again and rough engine idle when engine is cold with clattering sound; noise disappears when the clutch is depressed. Took it in and had code read (don't know code, but mechanic said it was indicating improper combustion). Cleaned injectors again and reset computer. Next day, check engine on again and still have rough idle with cold engine. Mechanic says could be mass airflow sensor or spark plugs. Anybody else experience this or know what may be wrong?

It ended up being that the engine cylinder intake valves were so thinned out that there was pressure leakage. It was an expensive repair. I was told by the mechanic that using regular grade fuel could be the cause. I am now using premium gas only. It's been 30,000 km and no engine light.

I'd get it checked out. The SAAB mechanic I went to see downtown Toronto was surprised that the intake valves wore down at such a low odometer reading. He normally encounters the valve problem with 200K plus vehicles.
