Default Gearbox trouble

Hi Guys,

Need some help please. Have a 2000 93 Aero and it's giving me alot of trouble.
I won't bore you all with the parts and money I have put into it!
Lately it's been grinding when i put it into 2nd gear, and when warm, it pops out of 5th after about 20 - 30 seconds and then continues to pop out of 5th if i try to put it back in.

I have brought it to gearbox specialists and they changed the oil as they said the gearbox had very little oil in it. Still the same problems.
They told me they would need to take out the gearbox, inspect it and that would cost 300 euro alone, then replace either 2nd and 5th, 250 each for them, and put it back together, another 300! Or I could replace the whole gearbox for 1,500 euro.

Seeing as I paid 5k for the car last year I need some advice on what and or where to go!

Thanks in advance.

Johnny

You're better off buying a used gearbox and installing that. As someone who has done work on these gearboxes and had to buy parts for them - it's not going to cost that little to fix properly....

Thanks Roto. Appreciate the help. Got a price on a used gearbox from a crashed saab 93 SE. Would that fit? They gave me a price of € 275 for the entire gearbox. The car had 90k miles on it when crashed.

Not sure about Euro models, but I believe it should fit.
