Default Help, Tire advice for Viggen

I was installing some 225/40ZR-18 tires on my Viggen and the guys at the store thought that there wasn't enough clearance for the tire, one wasn't too sure he would do it and another technician said to try them. They were afraid the tire would rub on the suspension and potentially pop the tire if I hit a bump while turning.

Called Tire rack and they recommend 215/40ZR-18's, but they said the difference was 4/10 of an inch.

What are the largest tires you have on a Viggen, can I make a spacer or do I need to just get the 215's.

I have 225-50-16's which should be around the same outer diameter. It should be fine as far as I can tell. (My car is a regular 9-3, but there are no major differences between 9-3 and Vig suspensions)
