Just bought the car yesterday and didn't notice a knocking noise when I turn the steering wheel.

It seems to only happen when the car is stationary and it seems to be no the near side.

Can anyone help with this one?

Check the tie rod ends first. If the boot is torn than that's your problem - replace it. You can also lift the side of the car a little so the wheel is off the ground and try pulling it as if you were turning the steering, that could also help with finding the knock.
