missing vaccum hose
hello i have a problem with my '99 saab 9-3 i dont know much about cars but i will try to explain it as best i can in hopes that someone can tell me what it is, there is a vacuum hose that is supposed to be connected to the intake right where the intake pipe connects to the engine, it is i believe the onlyvacuume hose that comes out thepassenger side of the intake. well that hose is gone.
i started my car this morning and it was running really rough. i looked in the engine and could hear the hiss of air, wich lead me to the very small part of hose was hanging however i could not for the life of me find the rest of the hose. what i need to know is what does it go to. it is, like i said, on the passenger side of the intake, it points some what twords the rear of the car. if anyone could help me identify this, that would be great. thank you. |
RE: missing vaccum hose
can you take a picture? Did your car throw a check engine light? I suspect it's the MAP sensor hose, the sensor is attached to the strut tower bar on the passenger side...

RE: missing vaccum hose
yeah it did have a check engine light for a bit before it broke completely. i looked at it and it isnt the line to the MAP sensor. that one is still connected its further back on the throttle body than that. i dont have a camara but i am trying to find one, hopefully i can get a pic up by tonight. thanks for your help.

RE: missing vaccum hose
oooohhhh that....look next to the wheel well for the remains of it.
|
RE: missing vaccum hose
i looked everywhere and i cant find the rest of the hose, maybe it got ripped off somewhere down the line. what is it supposed to connect to? maybe i can find it that way.

RE: missing vaccum hose
well I'd lie if I said what the thing is..looks like part of the emissions system...connects to some sort of a valve located on the passanger side wheel well. I'll look into in the WIS, but I hadn't had much luck finnding specific things in there...
|
RE: missing vaccum hose
is it inside the wheel well, or in the engine compartment( like under the air box)?
|
RE: missing vaccum hose
in the compartment, like behind the shock tower...
|
RE: missing vaccum hose
It's supposed to connect to the EVAP valve and there should be another hose from the valve going to the charcoal canister.
