Shifting issues
Hello all,
9-3 Aero, 116,000 miles. 2.8L turbo, 6 speed automatic transmission. It's new to me, so the maintenance records are spotty. There are no warning lights illuminated.
The car runs wonderfully. Great power. 95% of the time it shifts fine. I will describe the issue as best as I can.
When at cruising speed, and the transmission in lowest gear (I let "D" decide where it should be gear wise), if I start up a grade, even a slight grade, I sometimes feel a "shudder" in the car, as if it wants to downshift, but it can't decide. When it finally does downshift, it's fine. There's just a delay, or an indecisiveness in it, causing it to make this shake and shudder. I can only describe it as having a manual in 5th gear when it should be in 4th.......
I was considering a transmission drain and refill (not a flush). And maybe doing it 2-3 times, to get as much new fluid in as possible.
I did get an extended warranty with the car, so I'm not sure if I should do the drain and fill or just take it in and let someone check it out.
Has anyone had similar issues? I thank you in advance for your thoughts.
BTW.... This ain't my daddy's station wagon. I KNOW I'm gonna get a ticket.
Thanks,
Jim
