Default advise

Hi
I have just replaced the turbo on my saab 95 (97 reg, 170.000 miles)
due to the turbo bearings going. The problem I have is that there is a grey smoke coming from the exhaust and the smoke smells like soot, I have run the car for approx 50 mins and I cant detect any water in the oil, the car runs for 3 mins before the smoke appears. I assuming that it is ether the head gasket or piston rings.
Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

did you replace it with a junkyard unit or new or rebuilt? By the way rebuilding a turbocharger is something that one can do with basic hand tools and would cost around $70 and a day of your time...
