Default check engine light/ idle air control valve

Hello,
My check engine light came on in my 9.6 V6 Sedan. I took it to Autozone and the man there said that it was the idle air control valve (which could also be called the idle speed control acuator or AIC). Does anyone have any information on fixing this problem and what part I need? Thank you,
Robin

take the thing out and give it a good cleaning. They can get stuck cause of gunk. If you give me a picture of your engine bay close to the throttle body I'll point you to the part.

Thank you so much for your reply. It is 10 degrees here right now and I'm not sure how to get the engine cover thing off (I am totally ignorant about cars).

If it needs more than a good cleaning...what is the name of the part I acutally need to buy because Europarts told me that there is no AIC on my model Saab? I'm so confused.

I will take a picture tomorrow and send it to you....Thanks again for your reply and help. I appreciate it so much.

I was looking at parts for a V6 and it appears that this is a part of the throttle body. I'll try to confirm later when I have a chance. If it is so than it's a bit more difficult to clean...

When I got in the car this evening the check engine light did not come on. Later, after idling at the coffee place it came back on.

Yes, it is idling to fast. When I got in it this evening the check engine light was off and it seemed fine...then when I later sat with the car idling it came on again and I noticed it was idling high again.
