Default Lookin; at a 9-5

I'm looking at a late 90's or early 2000's 9-3 or 9-5. Being a car enthusiast I can NOT see myself driving a transportation appliance build by Honda or some other purveyor of boring cars. This led me to look for a Saab. In my research though it can't get a good idea of the reliability of the cars.
I understand I'm looking at a car over 10 years old with 100K miles or more on the ticker so I don't expect perfection but I'd like to know what I'm getting into. Are there any things I should avoid? Is a 9-5 better than the 9-3? I know to stay away from the 6 cylinder model but any other help would REALLY be appreciated.

Wow, no responses at all? I posted this same thread on a BMW board and have had TONS of support and advice. I guess it's a Bavarian barnstormer for me. I like the thought of getting into an enthusiast community that is looking to help a newbie.
Thanks anyway.....
