Default Speedometer stops while driving

I have a 99 95 that has recently started to act a little weird (or should I say, more weird than usual!). Anyway, I noticed that after driving for about 5 minutes, the speedometer drops to zero and the ABS and brake lights come on. The next day the same thing happens. Everything is fine for the first few minutes, then it repeats. My guess is that the speedometer and brake lights are linked to a sensor on one of the wheels. Is that correct? If so, is it just a loose connection. Seems like there's something that must be overheating. So those are just some of my guesses. Now I'm turning to the experts! Please help...I need to get this fixed so I can trade this thing in! Thanks.

clean out the ABS sensor connetors and if that doesn't help the VSS might need to be cleaned.

Roto,

Throw me a bone! I don't know where to find the sensor or what it looks like.

the ABS sensors are easy to find - there's a connector at each hub. As far as the VSS goes I can't really help you. I know it's screwed into the transmission, but there are also a few other things screwed into that aside from VSS...
