9000 Engine Change
Hi, everyone, here looking for some general advice on changing a 9000 engine.
My son and I have two 1995-96 (same model period) 9000s, one an Aero with a good engine but poor bodywork, the other a very sound CSE. We're in the process of turning the CSE into an Aero by swapping over bits, and the next step is to put the Aero engine into the CSE.
We have good general mechanical and electrical abilities, all the hand tools one might need, and a sound knowledge of 9000s built up over 10 years. But neither of us has ever removed or installed a car engine before. Our "facilities" consist of a slabbed area of back garden, and an awareness that we can easily hire things like engine hoists.
How feasible is this task going to be for us? In broad terms what is the sequence, what major issues are we likely to encounter, what special tools and equipment are we likely to need, and what general advice is anyone prepared to offer?
Many thanks.
