Default problems removing alternator

i have a 94 900se, the alternator has gone bad and i am having a hard time trying to replace it. i have removed the bolts and have it completely loose, the problem is that there is no room to actually pull it out from under the car and pull the new one back in. i have a haynes book which states that you simply pull it out through the wheel well, however there is absolutly no room for it to come out. if anyone has any suggestions it would be much appreaciated. thank you

Default RE: problems removing alternator

figured it out!

what i had to do was, after removing the bolts from the alternator (tensioner pully has to be in the fully engaged position after removing the belt in order for there to be enough room to remove the upper bolt) i realized that my only option was to attempt to pull it out through the hood. in order to do this, what you have to do is remove the sway bar and the cruise control motor. then twist and turn the alternator to the top.
