Breather Hoses to Oil trap

Breather Hoses to Oil trap
Has any one had to replace the breather hoses to the oil trap. How hard is it to get to the lower hose from the oil trap to the oil sump. My hoses are very soft and brital. Would it be okay to use vacuum/heater hose.
