Default Horrible Situation...

so okay today i wake up around noon... I had work at 2:00pm and was getting ready around 1:30pm so i get all my stuff together and get into my baby (1996 9000 aero). Im driving to work when out of nowhere we get a huge rainstorm... i mean huge it was just ridiculous ammounts of rain hitting the ground and my car. so i get to the entrance of my work and notice that there is a HUGE pool of water in front of it. it was maybe 2-4 feet deep (yeah ridiculous!) so I drive my car through it in first gear because i dont want to go to fast and not to slow... i was going like 5-8 miles an hour... all of a sudden my car shuts off... Right in the middle of this monsterous puddle. i try to start it over and over again... It wont turn over. i then push it with a friend inside work to the side in a parking spot away from the puddle and the rain suddenly stopped. I checked my spark plugs and my intake... the intake didnt seem to feel wet not to me atleast i could be in denial and was forced to believe that it wasnt wet but you get the point... my plugs were fine. Now i cant understand why the car would do this... i try to start it and it wants to turn over but makes a horrible "CRKKKKK" noise... Im honestly scared for my car and am hoping its an easy fix.. i had it towed to my mechanic and hes briefing me on it tomorrow... does anyone know what this could be... Anyones help would be amazing. Thanks.
