Good buy?
Hi I was hoping someone that knows a lot more about Saabs could help me out. I'm looking at purchasing a 2001 Saab 9-3 with 106,000 miles on it for $4,700. I'd love to hear your experiences with this model and what your thoughts are on the purchase...how long does this particular model last, what are common problems, etc. thank you so much in advance for your help! Here is the original ad for this car 2001 Saab

If you want an honest opinion from me - it's too much. Good price for that car is about 3500 and even that's a lot. It being a convertible is adding to the price, if you went for a 5-door it'd be about 2500 tops. Do yourself a favor and insist that the seller at his own expense pulls the oil pan and gets it cleaned. Have a mechanic check out the turbocharger and check compression. Make sure that brake pds are evenly worn and that there's no "ridge" on the rotors. If there's a ridge I'd question the owner's maintenance practices.
