New engine or second hand???Any Advice?
Hi - My Saab 9-5 aero Hot Estate blew up on the motor way- thud, loss of power, smoke - oil sprayed out, (hence smoke).
Needs a new engine.
Can get a new one for £1400 delivered or a second hand one for £550 - £600.
Fitting cost seems to be the same roughly £450 to £600.
Second hand engines seem to have 80-90 k on them but this is based on trust.
30 day warranty on the second hand or 3-6 months if the garage supplies and fits.
12 month warranty on the new unit.
Would I regret not paying out the extra £800-850 for the new engine?
Its quite a lot which I could set aside for further garage bills - like I am guessing the Turbo is next to go?! £207k on the clock.
