Default Newbie the Saab world

Hi all.

I havea childhood friend that has always loved Saabs. He workedat the headquaters in CT then in couple of dealerships. When the new models would come out he would always make a point to come and show me the latest/greatest. Well my VW Golf just gave up the ghost after 282K. So I took the plunge into a Saab.

Just bought a Black 2000 9-3 Viggen. I've had it 3 days and all I got to say is wow.[sm=smiley4.gif]

You have just bought yourself a piece of automotive history! Post pictures. Are you going to keep it stock? Is it just a daily driver?

Thanks for replies.

Roto - I'm looking at it as a daily driver for now. Picked it up as a1 owner,170K miles. I've had the car 5 days now. It's real clean for the miles; inside and out. I'll post pics.

I notice that you autocross cool. I used to do solo 1 back in the 80's in an {don't laugh} Omni GLH Turbo. This Viggen gives me that feeling to autocross again -very very nice powerful car.

I've been trying to find out about viggens and their maintenance/problems and such.

well, the one problem that those engines do have is sludging, but if you pull the oil pan off and give the screen a nice cleaning it wouldn't be too big of a deal. At 170K miles I'd look into getting the bottom end rebuilt with new rod bearings. It is possible to do that with the engine still in the car.

An Omni autocrossing....well, I've seen more odd cars...I mean even a 9-3 is unorthodox...I'm the only saab in the region.

Question:

Now, where might one find a Saab shop manual? I heard that that their no longer available but a CD might be available.

I used to use a Bentley Pub for my VDub.

Look for a WIS for a 900 and 9-3....just make sure you get the correct year...and if you can't find one I might be able to hook you up with a copy of my.
