Default 2.2 tid in limp home mode :( help please

Driving today, and without warning i lost boost pulling away, only to be greeted by the check engine light

I took it to the main stealer, (no where else to go at the mo)

they diagnosed the folowing

Fault code P0107 Map sensor fault, (open/ short circuit)

P0244 boost pressure too low

They said it needs a new boost solenoid? & and a maf

theve quoted me £198 to do the work?

is this reasonable, or is it something else and far cheaper?

I noticed going through the docs that came with the car, it had a boost pressure sensor failure a couple of years ago, ( the wire had dropped off?)

they refitted the wire and noted the connector was poor, with the note that if it failed again, it would require a new boost sensor

anyone know of any cheap parts places or is it a main stealer jobby

Those two items are DIY replacement items. Easy to get to and easy to replace. I'm not sure of the over the pond part sources and we don't have tid models in the states, so it's hard to tell if that price is just. I'd recommend sourcing the parts outside the dealer and replacing htem yourself.

It gets stranger!!

took it easy on the way to work today, and the car was pulling strongly beyond 3K but the CEL was still lit.

then it turned off.. car running fine...

priced up some bits,

MAF main dealer £50
MAP main dealer £125

MAF 3rd party £100 (bosch)
MAP 3rd party £35

so i bought some contact cleaner and hunted down the maf & map

Took the maf out, it looked a bit gunky / oily, (but the hose was oil free) so i gave it some judicious cleaning with some contact cleaner..

couldnt find the map sensor (i know where it it is now though)

put it all back together, and it ran fine, now CEL, and pulling strongly..

I have my suspicions that the MAF may be duff, if so whats the risk (2.2 tid)

how can i check the MAf is working? if i disconnect it should the car run rough, or throw a CEL

if i disconnect it and theres no difference, would that mean the maf is kaput and needs changing?

your car has both MAP and MAF??? Usually it's either one or the other.

Thats whats confusing...#

according to one set of data i should only have a maf...

another says maf & map

the dealer says maf and map, and the last failure in the paperwork says map

I,ll have another dig tommorow morning and see what appears
