2003 9-3 Alternator charging problem
i got a customers car in with a no charge problem.
tested for voltage at the battery and no charging at all, tested the battery and it was good. so i removed the alternator and sent it out to get rebuilt.
The rebuilder told me the old alternator was dead and he tested the rebuilt one before he gave it back to me.
I put it in the car and still no charging.
no i checked the wire coming from the battery and it had good continuity.
There are 2 other wires going to the alternator directly from the computer, one wire should have 12 volts to switch the alternator on but the other wire i am not sure about. Anyway i am not getting 12 volts at all.
I checked continuity to the computer on both of those wires and both were good.
My conclusion would be a computer, i did have to remove it to get the alternator out and i tried to be careful with it but maybe somehow it got damaged. I also triple check my connections on the computer and alternator.
Any one think of anything else?
