9-3 Starter/Battery/Electrical Issues
My 2003 Saab 9-3 has intermittent starting issues. A few months ago, I tried to start the car and the car would not turn over. I got the ignition clicking sound but the lights in the dash went off and on and the clock reset as if the battery had died. I had someone jump the battery, drove it around for about an hour, and then had no more trouble until this weekend. The same clicking, no start, fading of lights and reset of clock. This time, however, I waited about fifteen minutes and it started. The same thing happened again later that day – no start but the lights faded etc, then started a few minutes later. Does this sound like a starter issue? A loose connection? Or do I need a new battery?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Onstar Draining Battery?
The problem has gone away - for the time being. After doing a lot more research on the web, I think my battery may be being drained by the Onstar malfunctioning. Since Onstar in my car is set up to work with the old cellular network whereas Onstar is now digital, it doesn't work anyway. I ordered the loop back part below so I can remove the Onstar module entirely from my car's circuits in hopes that this will stop the problem in the future.
