Default Broken battery tab in wire harness that goes to the starter

I recently bought my son's 2003 9-3 Vector. It has a few issues but the biggest is the copper tab that goes to the starter snapped off when I was removing the starter. The 13mm nut kept spinning so I put a screwdriver behind it to apply some pressure. Next thing I knew, the housing cracked as did the tab that comes out of the wire harness.

My questions are these:

Can I run a separate wire from the battery to the starter? And if so, which side of the battery positive side assembly do I attach to? It looks like there is some kind of circuit breaker there.

Does anything have to be done with the broken terminal end that is still in the wire harness?
