general key question

Default general key question

i just inherited a 1999 saab 93 convertible. the tow truck driver just dropped it off tonight. big problem is, nobody seems to know what happened to the keys. is the 99 equipped with an immobilizer key that needs to be programmed at the dealer? i come from a volkswagen background, and all vw's pre-2000 are non immobilizer, saab however is a new ball game for me. please help! this may prove very tricky as the car has a blown headgasket and i cant reasonably tow it all over the planet.

Sorry to say but yes it has a immobilizer. Saab calls it "twice". If you don't have the key/chip (you can have a key with chip in it and a seperate remote or an "all-in-one key) you will have to replace the twice unit and program the key/chip. Good Luck.
