ok here is another question--i read a thread on a civic forum concerning a guy putting undiluted antifreeze in his car-the response noted that the iacv will not recognize "bad antifreeze" from good though it did play a role in how the car idles---is this true? this could be a really dumb question-but hey it intrigued me--

thx for your help

IACV has no connection to antifreeze what so ever...It's jsut a butterfly valve that regulates the amount of air getting into the engine at idle. Sure, bad antifreeze could potentially could bad idle, but that has nothing to do with the IACV.

OK my first SAAB project completed..i cleaned out the IACV an tb the car held its idle on the first start but at 1000rpm with the ar kicked on it went to 800...not knowing where it should be it seems high...please advise. And thx for your help. I will get the codes reset and rechecked to make sure the ignition misfire code goes away.

the dangling wire i wrote about earlier was my temrature gauge as it was wacked off and i now cannot get an outside temp read on display.

thx

800-1k idle is normal as long as it isn't erratic.
