Cupholder stuck

Default Cupholder stuck
The front dash cupholder is stuck. Pressing on it to release isn't working.

Any suggestions?

By firming pounding the dash, the cupholder released.

I haven't pressed it back in thinking that I should lubricate the hinge(s).

Would WD40 be just fine and will this resolve the problem?
