Ignition coil cassette
Hi All,
I have a SAAB 9-5 2000 2.3l. Last year the ignition coil casssette had to be replaced. I bought an aftermarket one for AUD 160 and it was fine for about three months. I replaced it with another after market one from eBay and two weeks later the car would not start. The starter motor turns over, but as if there was no electricity. A day later the car stareted without a hitch but agfter driving 500 meters it cut off at the red lights. I had waited an hour for the towtruck then I tried to start the car and it fired up like new. I drove home and that was the last time I used it. I cannot get it to run again. Removed the ignitoin cassette, check ed the sparkplugs, they smelt of petrol.
In your opinion how likely is this ot be the ignition cassette (a decent one will cost AUD 1000 here in Oz) because I am not really keen on a) buying another after market one b) spend AUD1000 on a decent one only to find out that it is something else in the car that a) is not working; b) screwing up the ignition cassettes.
Has anyone had similar experiences? Any sugestions are welcome and thank you all for your time.

Check out my offer of the Red DIC here in the classifieds. I will not certify that the red cassette is suitable for your model you must check thru your VIN to see if it is suitable. However, the searches I have undertaken using your car details states that it will fit. It is my understanding that the red DIC is for year 2000 and before using the B204 engine EMS (after which they were black) [I am open to correction if anyone can advise different] What I can state is that the one I am offering was supplied by a Saab dealer and so a Saab OEM part. Your biggest problem is the cost of delivery to OZ. If you want to do your due diligence, re right part, delivery costs etc, please respond to me. Happy to help you out
