Default Do I need extended warranty for my 2004 Aero?

Need your advice here. Have a 2004 Aero sedan which has been performing well (OK, a few minor problems since I bought it in November 2003) & has 49000 miles. Of course the dealer's service guys are pushing me to buy an extended warranty for it. Seems very expensive to me & I figure the pricing has the probability & likely pricing of future repairs built into it. I see CarTalk also recommends an extended warranty for this car based on past problems. What does everyone here think? I hope to keep the car for at least 5 more years.
Thanks!

How much are they asking for it? An extended warranty could be a really good thing considering how new the car is and how much people charge for repairs on this car. I'm a DIYer and for me it's not worth it, but than again I have a second mode of transportation. If you plan to keep the car I'd suggest getting that warranty.

So, I am about the farthest you can get from being a DIYer! I got a quote from GM for a 5 year 50K mile extension for between $2500 (pretty basic) & $3165 (pretty much all in) with a $200 deductible. I live in No. California. There is a Value package somewhere in the middle for about $2600. I guess I am most concerned about the car's electrical system. I've heard that if one of the weak links breaks, repair will zap up to $3K or more in no time. I've had no significant breakdowns with the car thus far since I got it in 2003 other than some minor issues with fuel gauge accuracy. I'd like to keep it for as long as it will go!
Thanks for your thoughts.

I'm not too familiar with your year, but I've yet to run into a single electrical problem. around2500 seems reasonable for 5 years....consider it to be your insurance against engine and tranny failure...
