Holy crap! I can't believe it sold for that much. It keepsdoubling in price with every transaction! Let me know if you want some true history about this car (I even have some pics), but it might disappoint you in some way. The reason why MOST things work on it is cause I went through it thoroughly before I sold it.As far as the rear passanger window goes, when I sold it the window regulator was destroyed. I was going to replace it, but never got around to it cause it was starting to get cold. The hood was off of a car that had an engine fire so that's why all that paint damage is on it. The badges were my fault since I simply forgot to put a new rear badge on. In any way, let me know and I can give you a much better history on this car than the previous owner did...

Sure give me all the details! That would be great, I'm not afraid of a bad car story, lol.

My main question would be if this is the car that you had previously messed with, what would the real prognosis of life be on this thing. Its going to be a labor of love, Its not my primary car, and I can afford to get it fixed, but I just need to know if it is worth it on this particular car, or if I should drop it here and pick up another 9-3 with a better history.

As a matter of fact, you wouldn't happen to be Farhan, would you? That was the name on the title when I bought it. And if I remember, it was a philly address. Small world, lol.

Well considering you already overpaid ofr it (I sold it for 1200), I would hang on to it. Here's the whole story, I bought it from a guy on this board with passanger side damage (hood, headlight, fender needed to be replaced, some light bumper support damage), and it wasn't making any boost. Originally I wasn't even going to repair it, but use as a donor for my red car insted, However when I found the reason for the car not making boost and found that the exhaust leak was the flexpipe in the downpipe I decided to repair it. I got the hood, the fender, and the headlight from the junkyard off of a car that had an engine fire (therefore the hood isn't good, but at least it closed). The front bumper had a hole in it which I patched...I would get the bumper replaced since I'm not so sure about the patch that I did, it might start coming off, so if you ever decide to paint the car - replace the bumper. Mechanically this car was perfect (good compression, no leaks, very good turbo, good brakes, good tires), but the interior sucked. It was a smoker's car and boy was the interior filthy (I spent a total of 16 hours cleaning up all the coffee and ash from around the car). Originally it was a gray cloth interior, but like I said, it was shot, so I found a car with black leather and was planning to swap it in, but the damn front seats wouldn't work, so what I did was take the skins off of the earlier 900 seats and put them on the 9-3 seats (look at the headrest and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about, they're not an exact fit). All in all it really needs to get the front end fixed cosmetically (under the passenger headlight the bumper is on crooked cause I never got the bumper supports completely straight as it's not possible with basic hand tools). The clutch may need to be replaced soon, but I don't think that it's the original clutch, so it may go for another 10-15K. Also the sunroof needed lubrication.

Edit: No, that isn't my name. I'm pretty sure it's the guy that bought it from me.

DUDE! My mind is blown, the black seats just totally confirmed this. I was looking at replacing the seats with Viggen's because the leather kind of "sags" off the cushion... that's why. Even if not the Viggen seats, at least some power ones. Yeah interior needs work, but I'm planning on a serious overhaul to this baby, I have set a budget of 6k to blow on it, it's kind of a tribute to my father, who had a 87 900 S when I was growing up. He still has his, but its in disrepair, so I'm hoping that me working on this will get him interested in his again.

The guy who sold it to me detailed the car thoroughly, but still the evidence of the previous owner shows. I Trust his work, as we knew each other before the car was in his possession, and he has a 92 SVX he's been restoring for years, so if he spent even half the time on cleaning this baby up as he did with the Subaru, I should be gold. Thanks for the clutch/engine info. Alot of the work on this thing's interior wise is nickel & dime stuff. The cigarette lighter doesnt work, so I can't change my goddamned phone, lol. The seat adjustment **** on passenger seat is missing. The plastic louver from the sunroof has a 2 1/2 inch piece broken off, and its filthy. All those things that just take TLC will be done first, then the seats will have to be retreated (front replaced), you already know about my head unit plans, plus I'm replacing stock speakers with pioneer 6 pc system, with amp, no sub. I would like to replace the steering wheel with one that's a little newer, but that's last on the list. as for badging, I'll probably pick up the 2.0 turbo badge from an 03-05 9-3 - I like the font better. Some HID's, or at least some cleaner, more modern aftermarket lights, and I think she can still be a winner.

ROTFL at the pics... This is going to be the single best restoration project, EVER.

"So, where'd you dig this one up, Colin?"

"Long story...."

6K, should be plenty, just fix the front end, since I really had no time or desire to fix it since it was almost winter. The lighter never worked on it and yea, I forgot about the plastic piece on the sunroof. Viggen seats are very hard to come by, I would just go for black recaros (make sure to use proper resistors in the airbag plugs to prevent the SRS light from going off). All in all I've put a lot of work to get this car into drivable shape and pass inspection(the downpipe on it is off of my red car, since I got a 3" one). I only meant to sell it so that it'll see some more life and do some college student good, but I couldn't be happier seeing someone restoring it. It deserves it.

ROTFL? What's that mean? I'm a lil internet stupid when it comes to abbreviations...

Edit: Ah, earlier version of ROFL, ok. Yea, trust me, the work I had to do was not exactly the definition of fun.

I forgot to mention why the car was making no boost when I got it The little clip that was holding the wastegate actulator arm to the actual gate rotted off and I had to replace it with another 30 cent clip That car actually felt better in boost than my red car.

http://www.genuinesaab.com/catalog/p...48632e1cfeeb29I highly recommend this steering wheel too

look around the site too, there's a lot of performance goodies on there if you're into that kind of thing. My car has 80% of it's performance parts from that site.
