Firstly i'd like to say hello,and im new to this site.
Im also needing some advice on my Saab 9-5.
Only recently after driving for maybe an hour or so,the check engine light comes on and the car loses all power and cuts out.I then have to sit and wait for half an hour before it will start and the check engine light goes out.
After driving a short distance the same thing happens again and i have to repeat the sit and wait before i can get it to start.
Everything else seems ok,but theres no warning that this is going to happen untill i see the check engine light on and loss of power.
Does any one have any ideas what could be the cause?

 

Can you get the code for the CEL pulled? As I've learned from other people's experience if a car has to sit before it can be restarted there's a good chance that it's the crankshaft position sensor. It costs about $50 new.
