Default Oil leak at plug

My daughter has a '02 9-3 conv. that she bought (OK, my wife and I paid for it and she's suppposedly paying us back) and I am now past my second oil change for it. During the first oil change I had to absolutely destroy the oil plug to get it loose. I thought I was OK with a new plug and the exact socket for it, but noticed a lot of oil around the pan and that the plug was a little loose at the second oil change. I just had to add a quart of oil less than a month after the second change...didn't have time to check underneath before she was off to classes. Is it possible or probable that I will have to use Locktite or something to keep the plug tight and that is why I had to struggle with it the first time? I hate to animal-tighten the plug (I prefer good and snug) but is that what I need to do?
