9-5 cronic stalling problem
Hi folks. I'm new to the forum and would appreciate any help offered (warning: this is a fairly long saga). I purchased a used 2000 9-5 Aero with 160K miles. Did a bunch of work to get it road ready: ABS module, brakes, P/S hose (this was fun...). Love the car. It ran great until I hit a deep puddle after which the engine stumbled, died and would not re-start. I towed it home and checked the obvious things assuming water was the culprit (air filter, MAFS, etc.). Everything looked okay and when I tried starting it, it started and ran fine.
Since then, it will start and run fine - for about 6 minutes - then stall. I can start it up immediately and it will run for a bit and then stall again. Before it stalls, the TCM OFF light comes on and the tach bounces a bit.
I've replaced the CPS, spark plugs and fuel pump to no avail. I've confirmed with the dealer that the recalls have been performed (ECM, Ignition cassette, etc.).
I finally took the car to the dealer who had it for a week trying to find the problem. They tried a new MAFS, throttle body, ignition cassette, ignition switch and ECM - nothing corrected the problem.
In the process, the dealer found a leaking coolant temp. sensor. This is a bit bazaar, but I confirmed it. Apparently the sensor was leaking into the harness all the way to the ECM, soaking the connector with antifreeze. They replaced the temp. sensor and dried everything out as best they could but the problem persists. The dealer recommends replacing the engine wiring harness. There is a splice near the ECM plug which is the grounding point for a variety of sensors that he suspects has been compromised by the coolant.
The harness is $1300 plus labor. I'll be replacing the harness myself, but have some doubts that this will fix the problem.
Okay, sorry for the long tale, and thanks for your patience. My question: has anyone experienced similar symptoms and actually found a solution?
thanks!

I have a 2001 saab 9.5 & have found out that if battery goes weak & u need to replace. before you install new battery touch both cables together for a few sec. to reset computer, Then Install new battery then get in car & lock doors with key, put key into Ignition & turn key to on position then press unlock button on key. turn off then start engine. This may not apply to your trouble, But its good info to have & share. My car would not start after a short trip, was told it was fuel pump , in reality it was the battery, car is working fine now, except radio not working I need to pull it & ck the fuse behind radio. but i want to replace the crankshaft sensor next. I hope this is of some help
