Default ECU tuning

I would like to make members aware of another forum. The forum is www.ecuproject.com and the products of this forum is to saab as uberdata is to honda and DSM link to ****subishi. Today I successfully backed up my ECU using T5 Suite and will flash it tomorrow as well as another T7 ECU that a friend of my managed to brick. The world of ECU tuning is a wonderful thing and does more for your car than the bolt-ons alone.

Default RE: ECU tuning

I use HPTuners for my LS1 car, and I agree on the benefits.

Default RE: ECU tuning

I am superficially familiar with ECU tuning and the various people and business which offer tuning services (Nordic, BSR, Maptun to name a few) but what is different about this site? It seems fairly nondescriptive in what the end goal is other than a storage house for ECU program differences (whether they come from the stock or modified cars). So what is the benefit of the site? What would the site expect from me other than a copy of my T7 stock programming? Or are they only asking for "tuned" ECUs to populate their database?

I would be interested and I have thought of a Stg 1 tune down the road, but I'm not quite sure what I'd be getting into here.

The site is dedicated to open source tuning for our cars. Yeah, the description sucks, but these guys have already developed some impressive software to tune the cars ourselves. For example I am currently tweaking a generic stage 3 tune to fit my car. All free. I'm also helping another guy with reflashing his ECU as well. Basically the idea is to provide an alternative to all the big tuner's who charge a crapload of money for a generic tune.

Hmmm...I will have to seriously consider this. I understand very well open source code as I run a Linux OS. You think they'd accept that my car is stock tuned?

I'm sure they'll accept you. I came in with a stock tune and I'll be posting my self tuned binary back when it gets done. I'll also try to help out with programming if I do get some time to kill.

Ok, first success story. I successfully reflashed two ECUs today. I reflashed my T5 ECU to a lazy stage 3 tune to be modified later and reflashed a T7 ecu with an SID modification that outputs engine parameters onto the SID. I'll post a picture later, but it's pretty damn cool. Even if you're not that much into tuning you would appreciate having that. Unfortunately you cant do that on a T5 car... but there's a different solution for T5-ers...stay tuned to my progress.
